Drink drivers convicted of serious or repeat offences in Queensland will be subject to a period of disqualification from driving, followed by a period of participation in the Alcohol Ignition Interlock Program.
To complete the program, a person must obtain a valid driving licence with an ‘I’ condition (for ‘interlock’) and have an approved interlock device fitted to their vehicle for a minimum period of twelve months.
If the person chooses not to have an approved interlock fitted, they will not be able to legally drive a motor vehicle for two years after the disqualification period ends.
As part of our service agreement with the Queensland Government, we are required to provide interlock services within 150km of specified areas throughout Queensland. Please see the table below for coverage areas across Queensland. You can find a full list of service providers and contact details on our Service Centres page.
Service outside the areas can be provided by mutual agreement. We are currently developing mobile servicing for some of the more remote areas of the state by using the regular remote area servicing already provided by auto electrical firms. Please contact us for further information.
